Perhaps Love
I love it. I love this movie. It is terrific.
It is not exactly a musical movie, contrary to what many people thought. (To me, a real musical movie is similar to that of 'Chicago' and 'Phantom of the opera'). Jacky Cheung's singing is mesmerizing. The way he sings the songs is very captivating, they just blend in with the show. Though at some points, i thought the lyrics are eh quite weird.
It is a love story. 不煽情但很强烈. In the end, nobody ends up with anybody. It's not that there is no longer love. I think it's more that they have learnt how to love. Or rather, learn what is love. In the end, the director let go off the actress. The actress and the actor love each other but can no longer accept each other like they did 10 years ago. The ending is not that of a typical love story but nevertheless, I was very touched. Perhaps, this is love. Love can never be perfect.
There are alot of scenes which I like. Especially the one which the director was in the noodle shop. This was after he had decided to let go of Sun na. He told the shopkeeper (the korean guy who took up all the meagre roles and made him seem impt) that this is the first time he felt hungry ever since he got famous. I think this is a kind of 解脱. I like the director's role because he is the only one who is really 解脱.
I am a super-literature student. I watch movie using the a 'literature' perspective. Haha.
Watch it! Watch it! 4.5 stars/ 5 stars . The 0.5 deduction is for some of the weird lyrics which I think they only want to play with the words and the duhry scene which jacky cheung fell from the tower.
